Pai Skincare took a decision in 2019 to remove plastics from the packaging used for their Christmas range, and who better to ask for help with this than New Vision Packaging, the seasonal packaging experts.
Across two gift offerings – Sensitive Skin Toolkit and National Treasures – Pai needed packaging that would not only enhance and promote their products, but that also kept the products safe and secure without using plastics.
Traditionally, gift sets such as these would use a plastic vac form to hold and secure the product, but as a business committed to reducing waste and eliminating the use of plastics where possible, New Vision designed a range of bespoke packs and fitments to eliminate the need for these traditional vac forms.
The Sensitive Skin Toolkit is a daily beauty regime, that includes 6 products used in a specific order. Not only did New Vision remove the plastic tray, but they incorporated the holding mechanism for securing the products into the card tray itself. This meant that all plastics were eliminated, and neither was a replacement card fitment necessary either.
Around the card tray is a sleeve, which has one open end to allow the tray to slide out. The sleeve has glued return edges on this open end, and they help to give the pack a luxury and premium look and feel.
A premium-grade White Back Folding Box Board was selected, and this was printed in 6 colours with a water based matt varnish.
The National Treasures Hero Collection was designed as a traditional lid and base, with a white-backed corrugated E-flute fitment to hold and secure the fitment. The fitment has specific die-cut apertures to secure and present the products so that, when the lid is removed from the set, the products present beautifully to the consumer without the need for plastic.
The same premium-grade White Back Folding Box Board was used for the lid and base, and as well as a 6 colour print with a matt varnish, gold foil blocking was used to elevate the design to a premium level.
